Personal Highlights of 2023

We've now entered the year, 2024. I think it's time I started writing my reflections on the previous year, 2023. Overall, I thought it was a great year for me. There wasn't any negative experiences that left an indelible impression on my memory as far as I can remember. So, without further ado, I'd like to reflect on my personal highlights of 2023.

Receiving my A+ Certification

I work in IT. Receiving this certification on top of the three and a half years of experience I've accumulated in my current day job thus far validates both the knowledge and skills I possess to carry out my responsibilities successfully. But I'm not stopping here, I'm looking to continue growing professionally in my career. The next level of certification I aim to get is the Network+ certificate. I don't know if I'll become a full-time Network Administrator, but what I do know is that I need to expand my knowledge of networking because I'll need it when the time comes. I've recently started gathering study notes for the exam. As for when I'll be taking it, I'm thinking sometime during Summer 2024 at the earliest unless plans change and I have to postpone it to a later date.

Traveling Overseas to Japan

Wow! What an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime trip that was! I've always wanted to visit Japan since my past days of watching anime. To explore the hilly countryside by bicycle was an adventure. It felt so liberating to be away from the crowded touristy spots and enjoy nature. Of course, that wasn't the only thing I enjoyed from that trip. I tasted some of the most delicious food in the world. I saw some of the most eye-catching architecture. I got to speak Japanese with locals. And so much more. Now I don't know when I'll go back to Japan, but if the opportunity comes up again in the future, I'll be sure to take it.

Improving my Physical Health

They say that travelling helps you grow as a person. It certainly did for me after my trip to Japan. After making conscious changes to my diet, exercising more regularly, and adopting a 12-hour fasting period, I've lost more 23 pounds over the course of 7 months from 183 pounds all the way down to 160 pounds. I already feel lighter, leaner, stronger, and healthier than ever before. But this is just only the beginning and I don't intend on stopping any time soon. It's a life-long committment to becoming the best shape I can possibly be and hopefully staying that way for many years to come.

Booking my First Solo Trip Overseas to England

Travelling with other people can be fun, but it can also be stressful because everyone will have their own itineraries in mind and conflicts are bound to arise from that. Now the time to take charge of my own itinerary without compromise has finally arrived after all these years and I cannot be any more excited than I already am. I have English ancestry. For me: to tread upon the lands where my ancestors once lived is a calling I must heed. Otherwise, I'll deeply regret it. I might publish a blog post or a series of blog posts about my England trip in the future. We'll see.
